I have been to Uganda several times, but only for about 10 days each time, including traveling.  I have learned some things, but not a lot. Now that I am retired – Yes, I am RETIRED!!! – I can come to Uganda every time that Bob comes. We have been praying for this for quite a long time and God has finally decided to call my bluff, and here I am!!!

This trip I spent my first week in Mukono with my friend Irene who heads up Prison Fellowship Ministry in Uganda. I will write more about that wonderful week another time.

Our second week was spent on Buvuma Island for the Lake Victoria Bible institute.  Pastors from that island and many islands in the lake come for Bible training. Bob has been teaching these pastors for three years, coming two to three times a year.  We had about 104 pastors and church leaders in attendance this time. It was a lovely sight to behold.

One of the bishops whom we work with closely stood to open the meeting on the first day.  And that was when it all hit me right in the heart. He said, “Pastors and leaders, you are here to learn the things of the Lord and of the ministry. Do you know what a privilege this is?  Do you realize that you are here FREE of charge for your classes, FREE of charge for your transportation, FREE of charge for your food, and FREE of charge for your lodging for 5 days? This is all because of the generosity of the Lord through Professor Bob and his church.”

Of course, I know all of that, but not really. I, like all of you , only “knew” about it from afar. I have been far away back in Texas, praying for them all, without the heart realization of what God is doing…through YOU, our supporters. You are listening and being moved by the Spirit and obeying and giving sacrificially to these pastors. As I sat there listening to the bishop, I pictured each of your faces. I know you and your love. What God is allowing through us, just two little people, is indeed miraculous. We have you all behind us and surrounding us as we minister.

So many of these sweet men and women came up to me that week and asked me to send their greetings and their gratitude for the generous love you have sent. Here it is: thank you.

So, this is my first rodeo, I have much to learn…but it won’t be my last! I love you all.
